Demonkeeper by Royce Buckingham

demon.jpgI just finished this book, and it’s fun, and funny, in spite of the fact that certain humans get devoured, bones and all, by the Beast. Did I mention it was fantasy?

Nat is the now permanent keeper of a (spooky) house full of demons, including Beast locked in the basement, and his own three personal “minions.” He had been an orphan until he was discovered by Dhaliwahl, who began mentoring him on how to be a Demonkeeper. But then Dhaliwahl died, and now Nat has his whole house of demons to manage on his own.

Things were going okay until Nat, against the advice of his mentor, asked Sandy Nertz, the bookish assistant librarian, out on a date. With his attention drawn away from his job, street kids Richie & Gus broke into Nat’s house and BAD THINGS began to happen! On top of that, former Keeper apprentice, The Thin Man, is slowly making his way toward Seattle and the house of demons he hopes to re-possess for bad purposes.

As I said, in spite of Beast’s bad behavior, it’s a pretty funny and exciting book, with lots of humorous writing. Want to guess on how soon there will be a sequel?
