Have you ever wonder where dreams come from? Gossamer gives us the answer with wit, humor, and honest life experiences. Dreams are given to an older lady, a dog, a boy, and his mom. Their stories intertwine to keep the reader involved in their lives. John is placed with an older lady, and he is not thrilled. He even starts by teasing her dog. Things get better for them and John’s mother. Sometimes dreams are wonderful while other times dreams come in the form of nightmares. This is a short read and a must read!

Now from Ms. Childs: I first starting “reading” this book by listening to the audio/CD version of it. I realized again how much meaning I get from actually seeing the words rather than just hearing them. In this case, the description of the little “beings” that move about the rooms of the characters, gathering fragments from objects and belongings in the rooms in order to “bestow” them as dreams during the night, didn’t make much sense to me until I actually got the book itself to read. [And maybe it's because fantasy and I really don't relate well!] But I really LOVED this book! The kindness and patience of the elderly lady who took in John as a temporary foster son reminded me a lot of the Patricia Reilly Giff story–Pictures of Hollis Woods. But the “behind the scenes” story of Littlest (with her GOSSAMER touch) and Thin Elderly working so hard to arrange good dreams for John and the others makes it a great story.
