Boy 2 Girl by Terrence Blacker

This is an entertaining novel told intermittently by all characters in the novel. Sam’s mother dies, and he is sent to England to live with his aunt and cousin. Matt, Sam’s cousin, already has a group of friends. When Sam shows up, he gets the group in trouble (in a favorite hang out). The group wants nothing to do with Sam. He’s trouble.

The trouble is only starting. Sam really wants to be part of the group, so he goes along with the initiation idea of dressing and acting as a girl for a week. It is Sam’s job to get “the dirt” on a group of girls. Since everyone, including teachers, think he is a girl, he is able to join the group. After people get to know Sam, he becomes popular. He even teaches girls to belch and how to react to boys. Hilarity ensues when a senior wants to date Sam (a middle school student). The girls also have no clue. Elena even gives Sam a bra (padded) because she is afraid other girls will make fun of Sam’s flat chest. More plot unfolds in a funny (yet serious?) ending.
